This guidebook is specifically for collegiate ministry specialists
in state convention offices. If you have questions about collegiate
international missions which are not addressed below, please
see the FAQ section of our Web site.
If your questions are not addressed at all on this site,
please contact the Student Mobilization Team (isd.student@imb.org).
Your suggestions and additional questions are valuable to
us as we seek to develop the most comprehensive and helpful
guidebook available about IMB collegiate missions.
Question 1: How do the IMB and our
state BSU/BCM missions program work together?
Answer:
The IMBs Student Mobilization Team works hand in
hand with state collegiate ministry personnel to enable students
to take Gods glory to the nations. IMB mission personnel
send project requests from the field for summer, semester,
short-term and special projects (Christmas break, spring break,
etc.). The Student Mobilization Team sends the list of
projects to your staff in order for you to reserve positions
for students from your state to fill. The positions you select
will be filled through your state BSU/BCM missions application
process. Selecting positions for the state is different from
a local collegiate minister reserving positions for several
projects or reserving an entire project for a team from his/her
campus. For information on how local collegiate ministers
can reserve projects or positions, click
here.
Once student international positions are selected, the Student Mobilization Team will work with your staff and local collegiate
ministers to promote international missions. Each September
the Student Mobilization Team sends out a packet of new
collegiate resource materials available to all collegiate
ministers. This packet usually includes student missions brochures,
posters, project lists, Web site bookmarks, a promo video
and the COMMISSION magazine.

us the new information by

Students will apply for the international positions you have
reserved through your application process. Use the online
application and
reference forms from the Student Mobilization Team.
As soon as your staff has assigned students to the international
positions, please send to the Student Mobilization Team
office an electronic copy the students application information
(isd.student@imb.org).
If you would like to change your reserved positions or you
are unable to fill the positions you reserved, please notify
the Student Mobilization Team office ASAP at (jramirez@imb.org)
or 1-800-789-4693.
The Student Mobilization Team sends preparation information
for each project to your students unless you tell the Student Mobilization Team not to send this information. If the Student Mobilization Team does not send preparatory information to
your students, you are responsible to do so. Preparatory information
about a project includes:
- The description for the project, including the field supervisors
name and contact information
- Security information if the student will serve in a sensitive
region of the world. For students in nonrestricted regions,
this information will be omitted from the approval packet.
- Information about stateside orientation
- A travel itinerary page to complete and return to Student Mobilization Team
- Insurance information from Adams and Associates to complete
and send copies to Adams and Associates and the Student Mobilization Team
- A prepaid envelope addressed to the IMB Student Mobilization Team.
Other items necessary for the students
preparation which are on this Web site and, therefore, no
longer sent through the mail are:
Each student must complete ALL THE FORMS in the approval
packet and on the Web site. EACH PIECE OF
INFORMATION IS CRUCIAL TO A STUDENTS PREPARATION FOR
MISSION. The IMB Student Mobilization Team is not responsible
for students who fail to complete all portions of the preparation
process and thereby jeopardize their participation on a mission
project.
