Athens,
Anyone?
There is something happening in Greece other than the Olympics
coming in 2004. There is the unprecedented opportunity
to reach out to Greek citizens and tourists before,
during, and after the Games. There is nothing like
sport to bring people from all over the world together
for a few moments.
Recently,
we had a volunteer team come to Athens and minister to
kids at an evangelical camp outside
the city. This was important because being anything
other than Greek
Orthodox as a Greek citizen means being ostracized and ridiculed. Greeks are
very religious, but know little about the Bible and having a personal relationship
with Jesus Christ. They follow traditions and rituals without allowing God
to impact their lives on a daily basis.
Would
you consider coming and helping us proclaim and glorify
the "unknown God" to the citizens of Greece
and to the hundreds of thousands of tourists who will
be here for the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad next August? —The Athens Team
